The parent corporations of the Brown Mackie College system of schools were acquired by Education Management Corporation of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 2003. In November 2004, this system of schools was renamed Brown Mackie College; it includes the schools formerly known as AEC Texas Institute, RETS Medical and Business Institute in Kentucky, RETS Institute of Technology in Kentucky and Pennsylvania, Michiana College in Indiana, Commonwealth Business College in Indiana and Illinois, Asher School of Business in Georgia and Southern Ohio College, in both Ohio and Kentucky. Brown Mackie College has 21 locations in several cities of California, Colorado, Texas, the Southeast and the Midwest.
The educational programs that Brown Mackie College provides prepare students for entry-level positions in a competitive, rapidly changing workplace. This system of schools offers associate’s degree and/or diplomas, and certificate programs in electronic fields, information technology, legal studies, health sciences and business. The associate’s degree programs offered at Brown Mackie College are: Sales and Marketing, Physical Therapist Assistant, Paralegal, Occupational Therapy Assistant, Medical Assisting, Graphic Design, Electronics, Criminal Justice, Computer Software Technology, Computer Programming and Applications, Computer Networking and Applications, Computer Aided Design and Drafting Technology, Business Management, Audio/Video Production and Accounting Technology. The diploma programs are available in Practical Nursing, Paralegal Assistant, Medical Coding and Billing, Medical Assistant, Electronics, Criminal Justice, Computer Software Applications, Computer Applications, Computer Aided Design and Drafting Technician, Business, Advertising and Accounting.
