Strayer University: Delaware County Campus

Dr. S Irving Strayer was aware of how the business world was quickly evolving and that requirements at the turn of the century would be incremented. He was also acquainted with the fact that working adults would need an appropriate education to cope with the requirements and to stay current with them. All this led him to found the Strayer’s Business College of Baltimore City in 1892. A successful enterprise, the College started to take off and was soon expanding to Washington D.C. in 1904. Able to award Bachelor of Science degrees by 1969, the College changed its name to Strayer College. Soon after, it received an accreditation by the Association of Independent Colleges and Schools and in 1987 along with authorization to grant Master’s degrees. In 2003, Strayer University, still expanding, opens campuses in Pennsylvania and Tennessee.

Settled before the year 1700 by Quakers who arrived in Pennsylvania with William Penn, Springfield in Delaware County is home of Strayer University’s Delaware County Campus. Delaware County Campus, one of Strayer’s forty one campuses, continues with the original vision of Dr. S Irving Strayer by offering working adults the opportunity to quickly complete a degree through a high quality education. Many of the programs also provide the background to prepare for professional certification in a wide variety of disciplines. At Delaware County Campus students will be able to advance in their professional careers while at the same time be able to study.

Delaware County Campus offers programs in a variety of fields of study including Accounting, Business, Education, General Studies, Health Services Administration, Information Technology and Public Administration. Because Strayer University was conceived with working adults in mind, Delaware County Campus offers flexibility to make its programs more accessible. Strayer University offers online courses which students can take advantage of, even they have the option of synchronous and asynchronous online offerings. In order to assure the quality of its programs, Strayer University is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education. It is also approved by the Pennsylvania Department of Education.
