Strayer University: Fredericksburg Campus

Strayer University’s Fredericksburg Campus is located in the homonymous independent city in the U.S Commonwealth of Virginia, Fredericksburg. Located on the Rappahannock River near the head of navigation at the fall line, the city of Fredericksburg developed as the frontier of colonial Virginia shifted west out of the coastal plain. Fredericksburg Campus is conveniently located, not only because the city is a part of the Washington-Baltimore Metropolitan Area but also because it is the commercial hub of a rapidly growing region in north central Virginia. Strayer University’s Fredericksburg Campus offers quality higher education programs for people in the area, and is especially focused in working adults.

Strayer University, which today is an institution made of 41 campuses in Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Maryland, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and Washington, D.C., has its roots in April 1892 when Dr. S. Irving Strayer founded Strayer’s Business College of Baltimore City. Expanding to Washington, D. C. in 1904, the college was eventually renamed Strayer College. In 1969, Strayer College was licensed to grant Bachelor of Science degrees. In 1987, Strayer College received authorization by the District of Columbia Education Licensure Commission to award Master's degrees. In 1981, the College received approval by the State Council of Higher Education for the Commonwealth of Virginia to offer programs at campuses in Virginia. From that year through 2001, 16 campuses were opened throughout Virginia, the District of Columbia, and Maryland.

Strayer University is fully accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education, certifying the quality of its programs. Fredericksburg Campus offers undergraduate and graduate programs in the following fields: Accounting, Business, Education, General Studies, Health Services Administration, Information Technology and Public Administration. In addition to the excellent education and convenient schedules and class options, Strayer University offers a variety of student services like: academic advising, career development assistance, computer labs, financial aid advices, learning resources center and tutoring center.
