The city of Vancouver in Washington has a branch of the Everest family, opened in 1979 but with its current location since 1998. This campus was founded in order to meet the growing development of the area of Southwest Washington. This development forced many people to look for educational options and the Everest College was benefited from that as well: in 2001 the school expanded and now has a 16,000 square feet facility!


Everest’s special characteristics for the Vancouver campus include: access to five high-tech computer labs, use of two state-of-the-art medical labs, access to six spacious classrooms and student lounge, access to the Fort Vancouver Regional Library, which is in close proximity to the campus, use of convenient services such as free student parking and close bus service, and access to resource center with Internet access.


The emphasis put on real-world training can never be stressed too much at Everest College! This because potential employers will be looking for graduates that have the support of a solid and well defined education. The Vancouver campus offers education focused towards practical skills; a dedicated and skilled faculty; and provides all resources possible for students to develop a strong knowledge base and most of all, the experience needed in any of the particular programs Everest College has.


Everest College, Vancouver Campus’ programs are: Accounting, Accounting/Business Administration, Administrative Assistant, Administrative Medical Assistant, Advanced Microcomputer Applications, Automated Office Technology, Bookkeeping Executive Assistant, Legal Administrative Assistant, Medical Administrative Assistant, Medical Assistant, Medical Insurance Billing/Coding, Microcomputer Applications, Operations Specialist, and Paralegal/Legal Assistant.

At Everest College, staff and faculty, know well that to be successful it takes much more than being in the classroom! Therefore they are quite enthusiastic about helping students in all areas of their education and even beyond that. The vital tools that the College offers for students to find their experience rewarding is:


1. Career Planning & Job Placement
Everest College has an essential course called Career Skills which helps the student in the personal and professional development for their chosen field of study. Instruction for this program centers on:
· developing self-confidence to be able to engage effectively in many different business situations
· importance of strong job interviewing techniques, which include resume preparation and the interview tactics
· pairing talents with interests for a suitable job possibilities


2. Student Advising
 As the student goes through the educational experience he will be able to receive support, advising and mentoring on academic and personal issues. The advising services provided by Everest College are designed to:
· assist in planning career choices
· develop effective study habits
· assist in planning life goals
· assist with academic performance
· provide general support services


3. Financial Aid
The costs of college tuition are never cheap, that’s a fact! Everest College knows this and that is why assisting those who qualify for financial aid is part of the school’s tools to make going to college a little easier (at least economically!)
Everest College participates in various federal and state student financial assistance programs. The Student Finance Office is accessible for students who have questions regarding the economic assistance.


4. Scholarships
For all the students who have special qualifications, academic, athletic or artistic, there is always the possibility of opting for a scholarship. Awards are also possible for those students interested in particular fields of study, who live in certain parts of the country or who demonstrate financial need.


Scholarships at hand! Everest College offers High School Scholarships for graduating seniors, age 17 or older. High school seniors may obtain scholarship information from a participating high school guidance department, or they may call the College for an application. All applicants must take the CPAt, which measures competency in reading, language, and mathematics. Scholarship finalists will be those with the highest scores on the test.


A panel of school officials conducts interviews with the scholarship finalists about their goals, accomplishments, and extracurricular activities. This panel will select winners by consensus vote. Each campus will award scholarships as follows:
One $4000 tuition-assistance scholarship will be awarded to a student for the program of his/her choice; Five $2000 scholarships will be awarded to students for the programs of their choice.

Scholarships will be awarded annually, they are not transferable, nor can they be exchanged for cash, and good for up to five months after the award date.


5. Student Resources
· Outstanding Scholastic Achievement: for students with 4.0 GPA they will be placed on the academic honor roll at the end of each 12 week term. If the student has an overall GPA from 3.5-4.0 he/she receives a recognition of Honors with the diploma or degree.
· Tutoring: this is a very convenient service that the student should take advantage of if he/she wants to improve level of understanding in any subject. There is assistance with homework, test preparation, difficult coursework, projects, etc. It’s an optional feature and it may be requested through instructors or the Academic Dean, and better still: it’s free!
· Special Lectures: guest speakers are always invited to attend the College and talk about career opportunities and current industry applications of the educational programs.
· Library: The Everest College Information Resource Library contains reference books and periodicals available to students, faculty and staff. Textbooks are available upon reservation for use on the library premises. A variety of media equipment, including VCRs and televisions, are available for in-school use.
· Internet Access: students need Internet nowadays; there is no mistake about that! Everest College makes that available to students through the school library so they have assistance with research and academic responsibilities.
· Field trips: observing actual work situation is quite an effective and practical way of learning. Field trips are periodically arranged to industrial or professional locations, enabling the student to view on-the-job applications.
· Student Activities: activities that promote school spirit and develop leadership skills may be offered periodically throughout the school year. Participation in these activities is an important part of the educational process, and student involvement is always encouraged


The prerequisites the College asks for are: personal interview with an Admissions officer, completion of assessment examination, and high school diploma/equivalent (GED).


All applicants are required to complete an application for admission and an enrollment agreement prior to entry to the college. Applications are available online or on site at the Vancouver campus.


The assessment examination is a standardized test (Career Programs Assessment Test) administered by Everest College to confirm that an applicant has the skills necessary to succeed at a college-level curriculum.


Completion of a personal interview with an Admissions Representative is also a requirement. The interview enables administrators to determine the qualifications of a candidate. It is also designed to provide the aspirant with a better understanding of career fields, program descriptions, school information, and campus layout.
