Porter and Chester Institute

In 1946, Porter and Chester Institute opened its doors with one purpose: to prepare specialists for needed occupations. In 1973, the institute joined the Porter School of Engineering Design, and together formed the current Porter and Chester Institute. Due to an increasing demand, Porter and Chester Institute opened more campuses, and new facilities were acquired. Their commitment to students and the community is mirrored in their growth. Today, Porter and Chester Institute has campuses located in Watertown, Enfield, Stratford, Wethersfield, and Branford in Connecticut, and Westborough and Chicopee in Massachusetts. Porter and Chester Institute offers different choices regarding campuses so that you can choose the one that fits your needs and expectations.

Porter and Chester Institute has years of experience providing business, health-related and technical occupational training. Porter and Chester Institute offers the following programs: computer aided drafting & design; computer & networking technology; medical assisting technology; heating, ventilation air conditioning & refrigeration; industrial, commercial & residential wiring, automotive technology; and dental assisting technology. Porter and Chester Institute’s educational philosophy relies on a simple thought “students must be prepared to perform in a competitive field and fulfill employers’ expectations due to their competence”. To achieve this, the institute works in an office-like environment. Students will feel that they are working instead of studying.

If you want to be admitted at Porter and Chester Institute, you must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Also, you have to meet one of the institute’s Career Program Specialists to be interviewed and pass the admission test. In case you need financial aid, Porter and Chester Institute offers different choices for those who qualify: Pell Grants, Federal Direct Stafford Loans, Federal Direct Parents Loan for Undergraduate Students, Federal Direct Unsubsidized Stafford Loan, and Federal Supplementary Educational Opportunity Grant. Once you finish your program, they help you get the job you prepared for.
