West Virginia Junior College (WVJC) with locations in Charleston and Bridgeport, both in West Virginia, has a major computer operations program to offer its students since technology is something that seems to be everywhere these days! Computer Operations includes: Operating Systems, Internet Research, Telecommunications, Basic Network Operations, Basic Multimedia Applications, Software Applications, Word Processing, Database, Spreadsheets, Computer Security & Privacy, and Computerized Accounting.

We all know how technology can be tricky! Hardware can break down at any time, any moment…that is when being a technician really kicks in! At West Virginia Junior College, there is training in areas such as: Computer Repair, Component Upgrades and Maintenance, Utility Programs, Computer Diagnostics, Troubleshooting, and Hardware and Software Configurations.

The school offers as well options for those interested in the healthcare industry, which is one of the biggest markets in the United States; that being said, it is well known as well that the demand for jobs in the business of helping others is quite big too!

WVJC offers students the possibility to learn how helping people can be the beginning of a very successful career. Training is available for the clinical and administrative skills and the program is designed to meet the needs of today’s healthcare business. Clinical Skills: Assisting in minor surgery, Sterilization procedures, Urinalysis and culture techniques, Phlebotomy and capillary puncture, Microhematocrits, Assisting in physical exams, Electrocardiograms (EKGs), Taking vital signs, CPR, Interviewing and patient history, Basic medication preparation, and Recognizing medical emergencies. Administrative Skills: Medical office management, Medical coding and insurance processing, Documentation of patient records and progress notes, Medical transcription, Medical terminology, Scheduling laboratory work-ups, Patient referrals, and Computer applications.

The Medical Assistants training curricula of West Virginia Junior College is approved by the American Registry of Medical Assistants. Accordingly, upon successful completion of the program, graduates may register with the ARMA.

Legal Office Assisting includes the following: Legal Skills; Family Law -- divorce, alimony, child support and custody, and property settlement; Civil Trial Practice -- procedures, forms, and technology involved in civil trials, Magistrate Court, Circuit Court; preparing and filing lawsuits, and trial procedures; Legal Seminar -- comprehensive perspective of current legal topics and careers; Criminal Law -- processing criminal cases; Basic Legal Research/Writing -- locating statutes and case law, preparing various legal documents; Administrative Law -- examining administrative agencies and their roles; Real Estate Law -- deeds, leases, mortgages, public records, and types of property ownership; Commercial Law -- contract law, checks, drafts, notes, bankruptcy and business transactions; Legal Transcription; Administrative Skills.
