St. Louis College of Health Careers
Dedicated to assist students in achieving their goals, St. Louis College of Health Careers promotes an environment of positive change and growth within itself, the community, and the greater St. Louis metropolitan area. Through technical training in health services, the College places particular emphasis on moving students nearer to full economic independence. In order to meet the constantly changing needs of the health care sector and to better prepare and educate allied health professionals, St. Louis College of Health Careers develops and refines programs based on current health care trends and market conditions. The College counts with two campuses, Metro Campus located adjacent to the Washington University Medical Center and West County Campus located at the intersection of Bowles Ave. and Interstate 44.
St. Louis College of Health Careers was founded in 1981 by collegiate educators. Before the College opened, there was an empty space in technical training for many types of health care positions. SLCHC specializes in training students for successful, rewarding careers in the health care field as the demand for trained support staff in specialty support areas has increased. The College evolved from training solely in respiratory therapy at first, to currently educating in specialty program areas that include nursing, medical billing, massage therapy, ophthalmic medical assisting and pharmacy.
St. Louis College of Health Careers is institutionally accredited by the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES), which is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. Through a supportive and flexible learning environment, the College embraces those seeking an avenue through which they can improve their quality of life. St. Louis College of Heath Careers offers a variety of programs from which students may choose, those include: Massage Therapy, Medical Billing, Medical Assistant, Patient Care Technician, Phlebotomy Technician, Ophthalmic Medical Assistant and Pharmacy Technician. SLCHC also provides ongoing outreach and guidance services that develop student self-esteem and critical thinking.
