Hallmark Institute of Photography

For those individuals who have an interest for photography, or maybe have a knack for visual arts, attending Hallmark Institute of Photography can be the first step towards a very exciting and lucrative career in the field.

Located in the Pioneer Valley region of western Massachusetts, Hallmark Institute of Photography first opened 30 years ago, and opened a brand new facility in the fall of 2002. Its 10,000 square foot, newly renovated facility offers a new theater-style Imaging Lab, in addition to its Digital Lab, a 300 seat auditorium and a commercial shooting area divided into sixteen commercial bays.

The education program at Hallmark Institute of Photography is based upon a 1400 clock hour plan broken down in two primary modes: the Art and Technique of Photography and the Business of Photography. The Art and Technique of Photography mode (950 hours) is divided in the Traditional Photography and Digital Photography courses, in order to prepare graduates to deal with any assignment they might be given upon graduation. The Business of Photography mode (450 hours) comprises four courses: management, marketing, finance and personnel. These courses are designed to provide students with the appropriate business perspective to succeed in their future endeavors, whether it is opening a photographic studio or working at one.

An interview is the first step in the admission process at Hallmark Institute of Photography, both to assess the qualities of the applicants and to allow them to scrutinize the possibilities of the educational center. Once the interview is completed, applicants must fill an application, present two letters of recommendation, pay a $25 fee and submit an official copy of high school transcript or GED. Hallmark Institute of Photography provides assistance for students to find housing.
