In 1991, the Nick Randazzo Vocational Training Institute was created in Gretna, LA. In 2000, after amending the articles of corporation and receiving regulatory approvals, it became Gretna Career College. Today, its commitment towards excellence guarantees students employable medical and business careers. The goal of Gretna Career College is to prepare competent technicians for entry and intermediate level positions in the fields of nursing and computer technology. Gretna Career College is accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges of Technology (ACCSCT), licensed by the State of Louisiana Board of Regents and adheres to the guidelines of the Louisiana Proprietary School Commission.
Gretna Career College has two main career paths to offer its students: Business Computer and Healthcare. The Associate in Occupational Studies degree is available for the medical office administration and administrative medical assistant programs; the Diploma program is available for business computer specialist, medical assistant and medical computers/billing specialist; and the Certificate program is available for nursing assistants/home health aides. Career placement is important for students, and consequently such matters are of the utmost importance at Gretna Career College. From the moment students enroll, they receive guidance through orientation, resume writing techniques, interviewing techniques and externships, all focused towards the goal of finding a job upon graduation.
Admission is a personalized process at Gretna Career College. After contacting the college, candidates are invited for an appointment where they will receive a tour of the facility as well as a meeting with an admission representative to evaluate the individual needs, desires, expectations and possibilities (including careers for non-high school graduates). Students can also apply for financial aid, which can be approved through a variety of possibilities (federal grants, direct loans, etc.).
