Beauty degrees encompass majors such as cosmetology, electrolysis, skin care, hair design, make-up and facial treatment. Cosmetology majors learn to cut hair, give manicures, facials, and other salon basics such as handling difficult customers. Cosmetology majors also learn how to help others look and feel the best. A typical cosmetology course covers topics from massage to hairstyling to safety and sanitation standards. As a beauty major you will learn salon business skills, study safety and sanitation laws, experiment with hair color, scrub and shampoo scalp after scalp and practice cutting hair of every kind.
